CAN Takes Some Landmark Decision Including Contract Cancel With Seven3 Sports

Kathmandu, Nepal, February 27, 2023: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has decided to cancel the agreement with India's Seven3 Sports Pvt Ltd as the main partner of the Nepal T-20 League cricket competition. The CAN had signed in the agreement with the controversial company on December 22, 2022 for the commercial and strategic partner of the Nepal T-20 League, 

A General Assembly of CAN held in Monday at Surkhet district decided to this effect. The assembly has also decided to authorize the Central Working Committee to collect the due payment amount from the company by carrying out the necessary legal process.

The General Assembly decided to cancel the contract with Seven3 Sports Pvt Ltd of India, CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand said adding ‘as the company's director Jatin Ahluwalia and CEO Abhishek Shaklani found to have involved in spot-fixing during the first edition of the Nepal T-20 League, the general assembly decided to cancel the contract with the company, Chanda said.   

The general assembly has also authorized the Central Working Committee to seek clarification from CAN members-Sanjay Raj Singh, Mo Dawood Ansari, Rishiram Gautam, Amitvir Pandey and Karan Mahatara Chhetri and take necessary actions like suspension them from the responsibilities if no satisfactory answer is received.

Likewise, the General Assembly has also decided to seek clarification from Bagmati Province Cricket Association President Raju Basnyat and concerned others for submitting a petition to the National Sports Council to suspend the working committee of CAN.

Similarly, the General Assembly has also decided to form a seven-member draft committee to bring amendments in the Statute of Association under the coordination of Central Member Padam Bahadur Khadka.
