Brahmaputra flows 1.17 metre above danger level in Guwahati, water touches the face of Lord Vishnu statue

Guwahati, July 15 : The water level of the Brahmaputra river has gradually increased and flowing above danger level mark in Guwahati.

The water touching the face of Lord Vishnu statue sitting on Sheshnag placed on the vertical pillar located in the Brahmaputra river in Guwahati near the Chakreshwar temple.

The water level in river Brahmaputra in Guwahati has exceeded the danger level of 49.68 meters and it rises to 50.85 meters on Monday.

The flood waters have entered into the parks located along the banks of the Brahmaputra river and it brings big threat to Fancy Bazar, Machkhowa area in the capital city of Assam.

"The water level has gradually increased and still increasing 2-3 cm per hour. The Brahmaputra river is flowing 1.17 meter above the danger level mark and also expected to be increased," an employee of Central Water Commission said.
