KATHMANDU: An electronic crematorium at the Pashupati Aryaghat, which had malfunctioned owing to a damage after some floodwater entered the machine, is expected to resume operation by Wednesday.

The services at the crematorium had been halted on June 29 when water from the flooded Bagmati River blocked a pump.

A machine brought from the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage has been used to clear off the sewerage-mixed water gushed into the pump, shared Govinda Tondon, Member-Secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT).

The electronic crematorium had come into operation from January 24, 2016. So far, 1,800 bodies have been cremated in it, according to the PADT.RSS
