Kathmandu, Nepal, July 6, 2022: Withstanding to the widespread criticism, Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma has on Monday resigned from his post.


Addressing the House of Representatives (HoR) Finance Minister announced his resignation. I have resigned from the post to help to the investigation against the allegation labeled to me though I am innocent, Sharma said. 

Finance Minister announced his resignation after a parliamentary committee formed to investigate the allegation that he had employed 'unauthorized' persons to tweak tax rates in the annual budget presented in parliament for the upcoming fiscal year 2022\023.

Following the controversies, not only the main opposition CPN UML but also the ruling head Nepali congress had been demanding his resignation.  

The parliament has also decided to form an 11-member parliamentary probe committee to investigate the case related to the entering of unauthorized person in the finance ministry just day before presenting the budget.
