Kathmandu, Nepal: Materializing their unity rehearsal staged since few months, the coordinator of the newly formed Naya Shakti party and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) have made their univocal stand over the issue of local level elections.
Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, who was also the former Maoist leader, and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) Chairman Upendra Yadav have urged the government on Thursday to postpone the date for the local level elections.
The government has declared May 14 as the date for the local level elections with the aim to hold the tree tiers of elections within coming January 21, 2018, the expiry date of the incumbent parliament.
The demand to postpone the date for the local level elections has come in the mean time when there is a looming fear that three tiers of elections would not be accomplished within the deadline.
Earlier, FSFN chairman had opposed the local polls while Bhattrai had demanded all party government to hold the elections.
Issuing a joint press release on Thursday, the two leaders have stated that the date for the local level elections should be postponed to correct the flaws of the constitution.
Echoing the voice of the agitating other Madhes based parties, Bhattrai and Yadav have demanded for holding the election of provincial and federal parliament at first.
In the statement the leaders duo have also demanded for early amendment in the constitution to address the demands of the dissident parties and the groups.
