Kathmandu, Nepal, December 8, 2020: Nepal and India have agreed to amend the bilateral transit treaty in a bid to boost trade and connectivity during a meeting of the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) on Monday. 

During a virtual meeting, both the sides have agreed to review the development of cross-border trade infrastructure to boost trade and investment and to create cross-border economic zones.

A Nepali team lead by Baikuntha Aryal, secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies and the Indian team led by Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan, included the Indian ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra had discussed in the virtual meeting. 

The agreement is taken a positive sign to mention bilateral relationship between the two countries.  The relation between Nepal and India was soured over the border issues in Kalapani.
