Kathmandu, Nepal, August 1, 2022: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has closed at 2,196.25 points on Monday after gaining just 1.15 points from the first trading day of the week on Sunday or last trading day's closing. 

Continuing the increasing trend, the NEPSE index had gained 54.58 points on Sunday. However, selling pressure witnessed in the last hours decreased the market by 0.05 percent. 

The NEPSE index opened at 2205.77 points went intraday low at 2,183.22 points and made intraday high at 2,224.48 points before closing at 2,196.25 points.

A total of 10,518,712 shares of 217 scrips traded hands were traded via 67,205 transactions making Rs. 4.670 Arba in the turnover amount. Monday’s turnover amount is little bit higher than previous day’s trading. Sunday’s turnover amount was Rs. 4.609 Arba.

Shivam Cement Ltd (SHIVM) made the highest turnover of Rs. 38.31 crores with market price of Rs. 848 per share while the shares of Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Ltd (HIDCL) traded the most.

Likewise, Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL) gained highest with 6.95 percent while the Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SMFBS) lost the highest by 5.21 percent.

Only five sector indices closed green out of total 13 sector indices. Trading sector indices gained the highest by 3.54 percent while the Hotel and Tourism sector indices lost the highest by 2 percent.
