Kathmandu, Nepal, July 17, 2020: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal, has on Friday unveiled the Monetary Policy (MP) for Fiscal Year 2020-21.

NRB Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari unveiled the policy amid a function on Monday afternoon from his office, Baluwatar. 

In the monitory policy, the NRB has made an ambitious aim of achieving economic growth of 7 percent in the fiscal year 2020-21.

As per the new provision, the bank and other banking institutions should invest 15 per cent of their total loan portfolio in the agriculture sector and 10pc in the energy sector.

Likewise, the NRB has extended the interest and payment period of loans from mid-July to mid December. 

Similarly, the Monetary Policy has encouraged banks and financial institution to merge among each other.
