Guwahati : Flood situation in Assam still grim with over 1.42 lakh people of 362 villages in six districts have been affected in the fresh wave flood.
The Brahmaputra river and its tributaries are flowing above danger level in many places in the state following incessant rains in parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the Brahmaputra river is flowing above danger level at Neamatighat in Jorhat district, Tezpur in Sonitpur district and Dhubri, while Dhansiri and Jia Bharali river are also flowing above danger level in many places.
Northern Assam’s Dhemaji district has emerged worst hit district with over 76,000 people of 236 villages affected by current wave flood.
Apart from Dhemaji, flood water submerged several areas in river island district Majuli, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Biswanath and Golaghat.
People have been forced to take shelter in safer places and relief camps set up by the administration.
52 people were died in flood and landslides in the state this year so far.
