Guwahati, March 7 : Assam in turmoil as several organizations including All Assam Students Union (AASU), Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Tuesday protested against the Silapathar incident across the state and demanding the state government to take stern action against the activists of Nikhil Bharat Bangali Udbastu Samanvay Samiti (NIBBUSS), who went to rampage and ransacked an office of All Assam Students Union (AASU) at Silapathar in northern Assam's Dhemaji district on Monday.

Police had registered a case (67/17) into the incident and arrested 14 miscreants, who allegedly involved in the attack. 
 
 
The violence erupted at Silapathar town, after some activists of NIBBUSS pelted stone targeting to the police personnel and attacked some people. 
 
 
The attackers also vandalised an AASU office. 
 
 
To control the situation, police had fired teargas shells. 
 
 
Several persons including police personnel were injured in the clash. 
 
 
The activists of the organization went out to the town after participating a rally organised on various issues related to the hindu bengali community including 'D' voter, amendment of the citizenship act. 
 
 
The organization also threatened to intensity protests and declined to accept the Assam Accord. 
 
 
Meanwhile, several organizations including AASU staged protests across the state and asked the state government to take appropriate action the culprits. 
 
 
On the hand, the issue raised in Assam assembly after opposition AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam criticized the state government and said that, the state government has totally failed to the indigenous people of the state. 
 
 
Assam Education minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, the state government has taken the matter very seriously and already ordered a probe into the incident. 
 
 
"The probe will find out, actually who involved in the attack. We appeal all section of people of the state to maintain peace," Sarma said. 
 
 
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had ordered Assam police to take stern action against the miscreants who involved in the Silapathar incident.
