Kathmandu, Nepal, September 29, 2019: Bada Dashain, the greatest and longest festival of Hindus, begins from today by observing the Ghatasthapana on Sunday.

As per the Vedic tradition, people observe Ghatasthapana by performing puja and setting up pot to grow the seeds of barley, wheat, corn and rice called jamara. With the Ghatasthapana, Navaratri begins.

Hindus across the word observe the Bada Sashain following the popular myth that Goddess Durga had killed the demon king Mahishasur on Mahanavami and Vijaya Dashami symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
