Kathmandu, Nepal: Chinese ambassador to Nepal, Yu Hong called on CPN UML chair K P Sharma Oli at the UML’s parliamentary party office at Singh Durbar on Thursday.

During the meeting the duo held one- to- one discussion on ranges of issues including the contemporary political situation of Nepal.

According to a source, Chinese ambassador Yu inquired about the fate of the local level elections and constitution amendment bill registered in the parliament.

Though such meeting between political leaders and ambassadors from the neighboring countries are common phenomenon in Nepal, the meeting of Thursday between Chinese Ambassador and UML chairman Oli, who is also the former Prime Minister, is taken importantly in the political and diplomatic level.

Responding to the concerns of the Chinese Ambassador Yu, UML chairman Oli had expressed his hope that local level elections would be held successfully.

However, he had expressed his doubts that the second phase of elections scheduled for June 14 would not be held due to the recent political development though all political parties have expressed their commitment to make the election successful.

Similarly, responding to the concern of the Chinese ambassador Yu, Oli had made clear that his party would not support to endorse the constitution amendment bill registered in the parliament.
