Arghakhanchi, Nepal: Energy Minister Janardan Sharma has claimed that the constitution amendment bill was tabled in the parliament in consent of the main opposition party CPN UML.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Press Centre Nepal in Arghakhanchi on Thursday, Minister Sharma, who is also a leader of the government head CPN Maoist Center, said an agreement was reached with the CPN-UML, to go for voting on constitution amendment bill to fix the date for the elections.

Though the opposition parties seem to have opposed the bill, it was made in consent with the UML, Sharma said.

As there is no alternative of coming together to institutionalize the republic and federalism in the country, the major three parties had agreed to table the constitution amendment bill and to announce the date for the local elections, Sharma said.
