Guwahati, May 23 : An IPS officer, who served in police forces for 34 years now promoted himself as a teacher, imparting knowledge to the students.
Mukesh Sahay, former Assam Director General of Police (DGP) he is now busy playing the role of a Mathematics teacher after his retirement.
1984 batch IPS officer Sahay, who retired on April 30 last, ending an impressive career spanning 34 years.
After bidding aideu to the khaki, Sahay is now imparting mathematics lessons to the Class 12 students at a school in Guwahati.
Sahay had joined as a mathematics teacher at Sonaram Higher Secondary School at Bharalumukh in the capital city of Assam on the first day after his retirement.
The former Assam DGP takes two classes of mathematics subject daily at the school.
Alumni of Ravenshaw Colgeat High School in Cuttack, Orissa and University of Mumbai in Mumbai, Maharashtra Sahay had joined as an IPS officer on April 6, 1987.
In last year, Sahay visited the school to take part as a chief guest of a function.
“During conversations with the principal and other teachers of the school, the principal told me that, the school didn’t have a mathematics teacher and then I offered a proposal to the principal to take maths class. But I could not involve myself as busy with my primary responsibilities,” Sahay said.
At that time, Sahay decided to offer his service once as a teacher he retires.
On the last day of his service in Assam police, Sahay shared his interest to teach mathematics among the students with the school principal and from May 1 the former Assam DGP taught the students at the school.
Sahay said that, he loves teaching and to share his knowledge among the students that he have attained.
Residing at the officers colony at Pan Bazar area, mid of the city, Sahay left to the school at around 11 am and takes two classes daily.
