Kathmandu, Nepal, May 3, 2022: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is arriving here in Nepal on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti that falls on coming May 16.
Though the both the governments of Nepal and India have yet to conform about Modi’s scheduled visit to Nepal, Indian media have reported that Modi is making preparations to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.
Indian Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled Nepal visit is taken importantly from different sectors because it is scheduled visit Nepal not just one month after his Nepali counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba embarked an official visit.
As this will be Midi’s first Nepal visit after he was re-elected as the PM of India in 2019, his visit is taken importantly in diplomatic and political level in both Nepal and India.
According to an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), there will be no bilateral agreements during his Nepal visit. However, it is said that both the Prime Ministers would hold a brief meeting at the sideline of Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha.
