Kathmandu, Nepal: Madan Puraskar prize winner Jhamak Kumari Ghimire has been conferred an honorary doctor on Monday.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari conferred with an honorary doctorate to the writer Ghimire amid a special convocation ceremony organized by the Mid-Western University in Kathmandu.
The University conferred Ghimire for her contribution in the Nepali literature. Ghimire won the Madan Puraskar, the most prestigious prize of Nepali literature, in 2010 for her autobiography, Jeevan Kanda Ki Phool.
During the function, President Bhandari acknowledged the contribution of Ghimire in promoting and uplifting the Nepali literature. President Bhandari congratulated her for being honoured with the degree expressing her hope that Ghimire would contribute and add more inputs in the field of Nepali literature in days to come.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is Chancellor of the university and Minister for Education Dhaniram Paudel, who is Pro-Chancellor of the University respectively and Vice-Chancellor Upendra Koirala and other dignitaries were also present.
