Kathmandu, Nepal: The main opposition CPN-UML has continued its obstructions in the parliament on the name of protesting to the government decision to increase the number of local levels in 11 districts at the time local level elections were already scheduled.
Responding to the objections of the UML, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Federal Affairs and Local Development Kamal Thapa earlier made clear that the government made the decision to increase the number of local levels to address the concerns of the agitating Madhes based parties and bring the disgruntle parties to the election process.
Notwithstanding to the clarifications of the DPM Thapa, Chief Whip of the UML Bhanubhata Dhakal announced that his party would not let function the parliament meeting claiming that the government has made the decision going against the legal procedure.
He had a claim that the government cannot alter the local levels tampering to the constitutional commission LBRC’s report.
Following to the obstructions, the House meeting has been adjourned till 3 pm.
