Kathmandu, Nepal, October 6, 2020: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has decided to take disciplinary action against its lawmakers, who had involved in vandalism in the Assembly meeting of Province 5 on Monday.
As involvement in vandalism is against the party's established policy and culture, party cannot give autonomy to anyone to breach the party's culture, spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma has sated through his twitter account on Monday adding that the party would not cover up the incident calling it as an isolated incident.
It is said that party President Sher Bahadur Deuba has also instructed the party’s mechanism concerned to take note over the act of vandalism by lawmakers of the province 5.
NC lawmakers including Bashiruddin Khan, Astha Bhuja Pathak, Baijanath Kalawar and others had vandalized the chairs and table of the assembly hall to protest the government’s proposal to name Province 5 as Lumbini and establish its permanent capital in Deukhuri in Dang district.
