Kathmandu, Nepal: Fourth meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Commission is scheduled to be held in New Delhi next week. The meeting of the high level bilateral mechanism is scheduled for October 26-27 at New Delhi on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the meeting is going to be held to review and assess past agreements and commitments reached between the two countries. The meeting is held in the mean time when there is a widespread criticism that India has not fulfilled its past commitments.
Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat will head to Delhi on October 25 leading a Nepali delegation while Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will also lead the Indian delegation during the meeting. The officials of the Ministry of foreign affairs and the officials of the concerned ministers are incorporated in the delegation.
It is expected that the foreign minister level meeting is going is going to be held following a Foreign Secretary -level meeting, which was held earlier.
The long being stalled joint commission meeting was fixed during the recent state visit of Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to India. During the meeting, both the sides had agreed to hold the Joint Commission Meeting ‘at the earliest.’
