Kathmandu, Nepal: The Nepali Congress (NC), the largest party in the parliament and one of the major allies of the incumbent government has forwarded an option to take into confidence to the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) to participate in the scheduled local level elections.

A joint meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) and the Parliamentary Party (PP) held on Friday concluded that the local level elections could be held in two phases if it was necessary to convince the Madhes-centric parties for the polls.

If the agitating Madhes based parties agree to participate in the elections, the elections would be held in second phase in the Teria districts, the Nepal Congress has said. However the Nepali Congress has maintained that the first phase of the elections should be held on the stipulated date of May 14.

Likewise, the Nepali Congress has also forwarded another formula to introduce a new Constituent amendment proposal by withdrawing the one currently stuck at the Parliament if the agitating parties agreed for the same.
