Kathmandu, Nepal, March 29, 2022: Ruling head Nepali Congress (NC)’s ongoing central committee meeting likely to conclude today by taking decision of electoral alliance with the ruling coalition partners in the upcoming elections.
Though the congress leaders have been engaging on a heated debate over whether the party should form electoral alliance with the ruling alliance, particularly with the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the CPN (United Socialist) even on Monday, the party would reach on conclusion of electoral alliance with the ruling allies in the coming elections.
Those leaders who had been opposing the idea of electoral alliance with the ruling alliance, particularly with the communist parties, have shown their loyalties to the idea of forming electoral alliance on the basis of necessity in the concerned level.
As the Maoist Center had deceived the Nepali Congress during the previous parliamentary and provincial elections even though electoral alliance was forged in the local level elections, the opponents of the electoral alliance have a saying that the party could face moral questions if electoral alliance was forged again with the communist parties, particularly with the with the Maoist Center.
Party leader Shekhar Koirala led faction of the Nepali Congress had been opposing the idea of forging electoral alliance with the Maoist Center fearing that it would deceive again the party by forging electoral alliance with the UML as it had done in the previous elections.
Party president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, however, has firmly stood in favor of forging electoral alliance with the ruling allies not only to keep intact the incumbent alliance but also to win the majority of seats in the upcoming elections.
Withstanding to the concerns of the opponents, party president Deuba has formulated the idea to bring midway solution for electoral alliance with the ruling allies. According to the source, the party would take decision to allow local units of the party to choose the ally (s) giving priority to the ruling coalition partners in case of necessity to win the elections.
