Kathmandu, Nepal, March 20, 2021: Notwithstanding to the boycott from the dissident faction, parliamentary party (PP) meeting of the ruling CPN-UML has amended the party’s Parliamentary Party statute on Saturday.
A Parliamentary Party meeting of the CPN UML held at Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official residence in Baluwatar endorsed the report tabled by the three-member statute amendment task force led by the party’s Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai.
The Oli led faction of the CPN UML had already formed a statue amendment recommendation committee under the chairmanship of Bishal Bhattrai incorporating Sher Bahadur Tamang and Bimala Rai Poudel are the members.
Though the dissident lawmakers had submitted a letter of discontent signed by 38 lawmakers close to the party’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal, the meeting decided to amend the statue through the majority votes.
With the endorsement of the Parliamentary Party statue, the CPN UML chairman and Prime Minister KP Oli led faction would take disciplinary actions against those lawmakers who breached the party directives and launched or attended the factional meeting.
