Kathmandu, Nepal, March 29, 2022: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is embarking an official visit to southern neighbor, India, on April 1 at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. Nepal and India have jointly announced the three-day visit of Prime Minister Deuba to India on Monday.
This will be Prime Minister Deuba's first bilateral visit abroad after he assumed office in July, 2021. The scheduled visit is taken importantly both in Nepal and India. High-level visit from Nepal is significant to India as it has already announced neighborhood first policy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) announced the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s official visit to India through a press release stating that the visit will further strengthen the multifaceted, age-old, and cordial ties between Nepal and India.
Prime Minister Deuba will be accompanied by his spouse Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba. Other entourage will comprise Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Narayan Khadka, other senior ministers, secretaries, and officials of the Government of Nepal, states the press release.
Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also announced the Prime Minister Deuba scheduled to India through a press release on Monday. According to the MEA, Prime Minister Deuba will hold talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House on April 2.
Likewise, Prime Minister Deuba will also call on Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor of India Ajit Doval during his stay in India.
‘Prime Minister Deuba's visit to India will provide an opportunity to the two sides to review this wide-ranging cooperative partnership and to strengthen it for the benefit of the two peoples,’ reads the press release as ‘India and Nepal enjoy age-old and special ties of friendship and cooperation. In recent years, the partnership has witnessed significant growth in all areas of cooperation.’
Indian Prime Minister Modi will host a luncheon in honor of Prime Deuba and the Nepali delegation on April 2. Likewise, Prime Minister Deuba is also scheduled to address a gathering of business leaders in New Delhi as well.
Before returning to home on April 3, Prime Minister Deuba is also scheduled to visit Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, the most popular shrine of Hindus.
With the announcement of the visit of Prime Minister Deuba to India, the MoFA has been engaging on to finalize agendas of the discussions in coordination of the MEA. According to an official engaged on finalizing the agendas of the discussion has said preferring anonymity that issues related to the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation will be discussed during the meeting.
According to him, Indian Prime Minister Modi would make some announcement on energy trade and railway service. Both the Prime Ministers would inaugurate the Kurtha-Jayanagar cross-border railway through the virtual means, claims the source.
