Kathmandu, Nepal, March 2, 2021: Prime Minister KP Oli’s claim that his life is in danger and possibilities of a physical assault on him anytime and anywhere has dragged not only into controversies but raised serious question marks on security situation of the country.
Addressing a gathering of his led faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) in Pokhara on Monday, Prime Minister Oli claimed that he was being targeted and his life was at stake. ‘You do not have to consider it strange even if something unfortunate happens to me,’ Prime Minister Oli said.
Though the Prime Minister did not elaborated clearly about the possible assailants but clearly hinted to the dissident faction of his own party led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal for the security threat.
Rival faction leaders have attacked me for running the party and country effectively; Prime Minister Oli said adding that they may even resort to physical assaults to me.
Following the statement of Prime Minister Oli, question marks are being raised from different quarters with the striking question that is there a security risk to Prime Minister Oli or it is merely a political stunt to gain sympathy from the cadres and the people.
As the ruling NCP has reached at the verge to split, the leaders of the rival factions have been throwing salvos to defame each others. Speaking at the function Prime Minister Oli had alleged the rival faction stating that he was attacked by those rival faction leaders who did not want to see development activities taking momentum in the country.
This is the reason why I am attacked from the rival faction is clear that the party and the government was running effectively and development works have been expedited, Prime Minister Oli said.
