Kathmandu, Nepal, July 21, 2023: The Supreme Court (SC) has refused to release Sudhir Kumar Shah, Meen Bahadur Gurung and Dharma Prasad Gautam, who were arrested in the Lalitaniwas land case while Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, who was arrested in the same case, has been released.
The joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Prakash Kumar Dhungana and Nahkul Subedi of the Supreme Court rejected the writ petition of habeas corpus filed claiming that they were illegally arrested and detained in the case that had exceeded the limit.
In addition, the writ petition filed by 17 people including Tikaram Ghimire, who was accused in the same case, was dismissed. With the dismissing of the petition, those released from the SC ordered could be arrested again.
