Kathmandu, Nepal: The Supreme Court (SC) the apex court of the country has on Wednesday issued a show cause notice to the government against the appointment of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prakash Aryal as the Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP).
Responding to a writ filed by DIG Nawa Raj Silwal, a single bench of Justice Ishwori Prasad Khatiwada issued the order.
The government had on Monday appointed Aryal as the IGP on the basis of the merit. Following the appointment, Silwal had moved the apex court, claiming that the appointment has breached the provision of appointing IGP.
Earlier, Silwal had also moved to the court challenging the government’s February 12 decision to appoint Jaya Bahadur Chand as the IGP.
