Kathmandu, Nepal: The Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, has on Thursday ordered the Nepal government to appraise the SC regarding the preparations being made to hold the elections of all the three levels—local, provincial and federal.
Responding to the writ filed by advocates Chandrakanta Gyawali and Leeladhar Upadhyay demanding to hold the polls as provisioned by the constitution, the SC has made the order to the government.
The SC has made the order in the mean time when the government has faced various challenges including the settlement of differences regarding the state restructuring to hold the elections.
As per the constitutional provision, the government has to accomplish the elections for all three levels in the new federal setup should be held by February, 2018.
