Kathmandu, Nepal: The decision of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to summon the leaders and office bearers of the Maoist party along with the concerned officials of the Nepal government has created a big jolt in the Maoist parties particularly in the government head CPN (Maoist Center).

In the hurriedly-organized press meet on Friday evening, the CIAA spokesman Ganesh Raj Karki said that the leaders and office bearers of the Maoist party including the concerned officials of the Nepal government have been summoned   to appear before the CIAA within 30 days.

The announcement of the CIAA has come just few hours after the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) to review its previous verdict regarding the appointment of Lokman Singh Karki as CIAA chief.

With the decision to review in the previous verdict, the apex court has also directed the concerned officials to furnish the documents related to the appointment of Karki.  Some critics have a claim that the decision of the CIAA to investigate the corruption in the cantonments would have intended to achieve popularity.

Though the CIAA spokesperson has not made clear about the Maoist leaders and government officials, who were claimed to have summoned to investigate over the corruption case in the cantonments, it is speculated that senior leaders of the CPN Maoist Center would have dragged into investigation.

Hinting that some Maoist leaders, who holds senior most position in the incumbent government, would be dragged into interrogation,  CIAA spokesperson Karki said during the press meet that the CIAA  will interrogate any person or leader irrespective of his/her present position.

During our preliminary investigation, we have found that there is a big disparity between the amount that the government had released from the state coffers for distribution among combatants staying at various cantonments and the number of combatants who received the money, CIAA spokesperson Karki said in the press conference.

It is said that over Rs 15 billion was released from the state coffer for the Maoist combatants on the name of the upkeep of the cantonments. It is estimated that about one third amount would have emblazed.
