Kathmandu, Nepal: The United Nations (UN) in Nepal has expressed its concern over the Saptari incident that claimed four lives of agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) cadres during the clash on Monday. 
 
Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the UN in Nepal has stated-  we have saddened by the loss of life and injuries that resulted from the recent violent clash in Saptari district between political party cadres and state security forces.’ 
 
Expressing concern over the escalating violence of tensions in the lead-up to the local level elections announced for May 14, the UN in Nepal has also called on security forces to comply with existing national and international standards while using force. 
 
‘Violence has no place in the freedom of expression and assembly, we encourage inclusive and meaningful dialogue to create conducive environment for the conduct of the historical local elections,’ the UN in Nepal has stated in the statement urging to the political parties to peacefully express their views in actions and statements.
 
In the statement the UN has also expressed its commitment for the assistance as well. ‘The United Nations is committed to working with all Nepalese to take the country toward a peaceful and prosperous future,” the UN in Nepal has stated in the statement.
