Kathmandu, Nepal: An unidentified armed gang and the Nepal Police have exchanged fire at Matatirtha in Chandragiri Municipalit-1 on Thursday morning. 
 
The Armed gang riding a Tata Sumo jeep with registration number Na 1 ja 3948 along the Matatirtha-Chihandanda road section had opened fire first to the Police while they were carrying out a regular security check. 
 
As the armed gang opened the fire, the police had also opened, Pradhumna Karki, spokesperson, of Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu said. After opening two rounds of shots, the gang had fled the scene leaving the vehicle in the incident site.  
 
Police have recovered a safe from the vehicle. It is guessed that the gang would have carrying illegal money. The Jeep was heading towards the Hetauda district.
