Kathmandu, Nepal: Agitating senior orthopedic surgeon at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) Dr Govinda KC has refused to hold talks with the government talk team on Saturday.
The government talk team formed today itself comprises of Health Secretary Senendra Raj Upreti and Education Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha had met Dr. KC promising him to address his genuine demands.
But no talks were held after Dr. KC refused to hold talks stating that he is unable to talk. During the meeting he had stated that he would form a committee to hold talks with the government talk team.
Dr KC is in hunger strike since last 14 days putting forth six-point demands including appointment of dean at IoM on the basis of seniority.
Police arrest 31 Dr KC’s supporters
Police have arrested 31 DR. KC’s supporters from Kalanki of Kathmandu. The cadres of Bibeksheel Nepali Party were arrested while they were approaching the residence of Tirtha Khaniya, Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University demanding his resignation.
It is said that DR KC had refused to hold talks protesting the arrest of his supporters.
