Kathmandu, Nepal: For climbers waiting patiently at base camp and for the Sherpa teams who risk their lives each season, today marks a special moment. The route to the top of Mount Everest is now open, bringing fresh hope and excitement to this year’s spring climbing season.
Early this morning at 10:25 AM, a team of experienced Sherpa climbers successfully fixed ropes all the way to the summit. With this final step completed, the long and careful preparation phase has come to an end—and the real journey can now begin.
Behind this achievement are days of hard work in harsh and dangerous conditions. The Khumbu Icefall, one of the most feared sections of the climb, was carefully prepared by the Icefall Doctors. Higher up, another team worked step by step, fixing ropes through steep ice walls and thin air, guiding the way to the summit.
These names may not always make headlines, but their work makes every Everest dream possible. Each rope they fix and each path they open carries the hopes of climbers from around the world.
Now, as the route stands ready, climbers will begin moving upward from base camp. For many, this is more than just an adventure—it is a lifelong dream. Some come to test their limits, others to find meaning, and many simply to stand on the highest point on Earth.
May is usually the best time to attempt the summit, but Everest remains unpredictable. Changing weather, shifting ice, and extreme altitude continue to challenge even the most experienced climbers.
At the same time, there is growing awareness about keeping the mountain clean and safe. Climbers are being reminded to respect nature, manage waste, and look out for one another on the mountain.
As another Everest season begins, it is not just about reaching the top. It is about teamwork, courage, and the quiet strength of those who make the journey possible.
