Kathmandu, Nepal, November 07, 2023: The government has formed a task force to study the feasibilities of cannabis cultivation in Nepal.
The cannabis cultivation feasibility study taskforce is formed under the coordination of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).
Joint secretaries of the Ministry of Finance, Industry, Law, Foreign Affairs, Agriculture and a representative member of the Nepal Police including the MoHA are incorporated in the task force.
This task force is mandated to investigate about how cannabis can be used as medicine and the potential of industrialization from cannabis.
The task force is formed in line with the annual budget of the current fiscal year. Finance Minister Mahat had mentioned in the budget speech that feasibility of cannabis cultivation for medicinal use will be studied.
