Kathmandu, Nepal, October 2, 2020: Even though the leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) party agreed for a truce, internal rift of the party has surfaced at again after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli made political appointment ‘without consulting’ in the party.

As the cabinet decision to recommend the names for ambassadorial position in different countries sparked controversies in the party, it is likely that ongoing discussions held among the chairs duo to reshuffle the cabinet would jeopardize further.

Cabinet meeting held on Thursday had recommended Member of the International Relations Department of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Dr Nirmal Kumar BK, Central Committee Member of the party and former finance minister and Yuba Raj Khatiwada and outgoing Chief Secretary Lok Drashan Regmi in the vacant posts of Ambassadors to South Africa, United State of America (USA) and United Kingdom (UK) respectively.

Since Khatiwada used to be considered as the close aide of Prime Minister Oli, he was appointed as his senior advisor rightly after he stepped down from the post of Finance Minister.

The dissident faction led by executive chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has demanded to cancel the decision made from the cabinet claiming that the decision contradicts with the previous understanding.

Though the party had reached in the verge to vertical split, Prime Minister Oli and executive chairman Dahal reached an understanding in the second week of September that all crucial decisions related to the government’s affair would be taken after holding consultations in the party Secretariat and in consensus with top leaders.
