Kathmandu, Nepal: Nepal is set to welcome one of the region's premier women's club volleyball competitions later this year after the Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) decided to host the Kavya Champions League Women's Volleyball Tournament from November 1 to 7, 2026 (Kartik 15–21, 2083).
The decision was taken at the 14th full meeting of the Nepal Volleyball Association, where officials also approved the association's annual programmes for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
Announcing the decision, NVA President Jitendra Bahadur Chand said hosting the tournament reflects the association's commitment to raising the standard of women's volleyball in Nepal and creating more opportunities for Nepali players to compete against quality international opposition.
The week-long championship is expected to bring together leading women's club teams from Nepal and several other countries, giving local fans the chance to witness high-level volleyball on home soil. For Nepal's players, the tournament will provide valuable international exposure without having to travel abroad, an opportunity the association believes will contribute to their long-term development.
The event is also expected to highlight Nepal's growing capacity to organize international sporting competitions. Officials say the tournament will not only promote women's volleyball but also encourage greater public interest in the sport and inspire more young girls to take up volleyball at the grassroots level.
Alongside the decision to host the championship, the association endorsed its annual programme for the 2026–27 fiscal year, outlining a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening volleyball nationwide. The programme includes national and age-group championships, provincial competitions, coaching and referee education, talent identification, grassroots development, and preparations for Nepal's participation in regional and international events.
According to the association, special emphasis will continue to be placed on expanding volleyball activities across all seven provinces, improving technical standards, and increasing opportunities for women and young athletes to compete at higher levels.
Preparations for the Kavya Champions League are expected to begin immediately. The Nepal Volleyball Association will announce the tournament venue, participating clubs, match schedule, and other technical details in the coming weeks.
