Kathmandu, Nepal, August 21, 2023: The parliamentary hearing of the proposed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Bishvambhar Prasad Shrestha is being held at 11:30 Am this morning at the committee's office, Singh Darbar.
The Secretariat of the Committee has informed that a parliamentary hearing will be held immediately after the discussion on the complaints registered against the proposed Chief Justice Shrestha.
After the retirement of Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki due to age limit, the Constitutional Council had recommended Shrestha, a senior judge of the Supreme Court, as the Chief Justice.
According to the constitutional provisions, after the Parliamentary Hearing Committee approves the name of the proposed Chief Justice, the President will appoint him as the Chief Justice.
