Kathmandu, Nepal: the negotiations process with the agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) has now centered over the issue of postponing the scheduled second phase of local level elections for June 14.

As RJPN demanded additional time to register their party in the election commission to get the election symbol signaling to participate in the second phase of elections, the government allies- Nepali Congress and the CPN Maoist Center seem positive to briefly postpone the elections.

Recent political development has indicated that the second phase of elections would be postponed for few days. However, the ‘few days’ would be transformed into months as there would not be possible to hold elections in the mid of Asar month, the rainy and cultivating season.

During their informal discussions the leaders from the Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Center and RJPN have tentatively agreed to postpone the elections.

According to the source, the main opposition party CPN UML have also seem positive towards the demands of the RJPN but complicating the process insisting that constitution should be amended after the second phase of local level elections.
