Kathmandu, Nepal, September 9, 2023:  Three more government employees of the custom office at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been arrested in connection with the 60 kg gold smuggling case.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested customs officer Pushpa Joshi along with two non-gazette first class officials Kamal Pariyar and Birendra Nepali of the TIA Customs Office.

With the arrest of three more individuals, the number of people arrested in connection with the 60 kg gold smuggling case has reached 30.

The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) had seized the 60 kg gold that was brought from Hong Kong concealed in brake shoes of scooters after the smuggled gold had passed through the TIA customs on July 19, 2023.
