Kathmandu, Nepal: United States of America (USA) Ambassador to Nepal Alaina B Teplitz paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s residence, in Baluwatar, on Monday morning.
 
Ambassador Teplitz and Prime Minister Dahal discussed ranges of issues related to the contemporary political situation of the country including the bilateral relations between Nepal and the USA, the PM’s Secretariat has said.
 
Responding to the concerns of the Ambassador Teplitz, Prime Minister Dahal reiterated his commitment to reach on consensus with the political parties for the Constitution amendment and its effective implementation.
 
Likewise, Prime Minister Dahal also assured the US ambassador that justice would be provided to the victims of insurgency era cases on the basis of the report prepared by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons.
 
During the interaction, Prime Minister Dahal raised his concerns over the issue of political change in the USA after Donald Trump was elected as the next president. 
 
Responding to the concerns of Prime Minister Dahal, Ambassador Teplitz stated that the election would not affect the relationship between the two countries. During the interaction ambassador Teplitz also reassured her commitments on behalf of USA government for the development of Nepal.
