Kathmandu, Nepal, March 23, 2021: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi has on Monday held separate meetings with CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal at letters’ residence to discuss over the recent political development in the country.
Chinese Ambassador Yanqi reached at Dahal’s Khumaltar based resident before meeting with UML senior leader Nepal at his Koteshowr based resident. Though the meeting as well as the purpose of the meeting is not revealed yet officially, Chinese Ambassador Yanqi is believed to have met to inquire about their plan to topple the incumbent KP Oli-led government.
As the CPN (Maoist Center) has been intensifying consultations with the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) to form a coalition government, Chinese Ambassador Yanqi urged Dahal not to topple the incumbent government, claims a source close to the Dahal resident, Khumaltar.
Likewise, she also urged CPN-UML Senior leader Nepal to give continuity to the communist party-led government by managing the internal rift among the leaders of the communist parties. It is said that she also suggested the leader Nepal not to split the party sabotaging the prospect of forming a communist party led government.
Though Chinese Ambassador Yanqi had been repeatedly meeting with the communist leaders including Dahal and Nepal, this is first time after Supreme Court passed the verdict nullifying the unity between the CPN UML and the CPN (Maoist Center) as NCP.
Earlier, she had met President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and CPN (Maoist Center) chair Dahal after president dissolved the Parliament on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Oli-on December 20 last year. Likewise, she had also met Jhala Nath Khanal and Prime Minister Oli with the aim to patch up the differences of the communist parties.
