Guwahati, July 20 : The Kazirnaga National Park, a World Heritage Site, which hoststwo-third of the one horned rhinoceros, has lost around 110 wild animals so far in the devastating flood.

According to the park authority, 10 rhinos including calves died due to drowning in flood waters.

In past 24 hours, the forest guards have found 27 more animal carcasses including three rhino carcasses inside the park.

On the other hand, Around 77 hog deer, 7 sambars, six wild boars, five swamp deer, elephants, wild buffalo died due to drowning, vehicle hit while escaping from the flood waters in the park.

According to the park authority, the water level in the park has been gradually receded even as 70 per cent areas of the park still under water.

The park authority has recorded 130 cm fall in the water level in the park.

The Assam forest department, park authority, CWRC have rescued over 60 animals from different places.

On the other hand, some animals including rhino, elephants have moved to the residential areas for searching food.

Locals of Naduar area nearby the Kaziranga National Park have spotted two wild elephants near a railway station.
