Guwahati : A 14-year-old minor girl was raped by a youth in Assam’s Kamrup (Metro) district.
The incident was happened at Digholipathar village near West Mayang under Pragjyotishpur police station in Kamrup (Metro) district, where the minor girl was raped a 28-year-old youth named Santosh Roy of her same village on Monday.
According to the reports, the youth took the minor to his home and raped her.
She described the incident before her parents when she returned and parents had immediately lodged an FIR with police.
Police had arrested the accused person and on Tuesday he was produced before a local court in Guwahati.
The court had sent the accused person to judicial custody.
Officer-in-Charge of Pragjyotishpur police station Mridul Hazarika said that, police had already arrested the accused person and sent to jail.
“We had registered a case (no 148/2018 under section 365 of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” Mridul Hazarika said.
According to the Assam state home department data, over 4100 rape cases have been registered in different police stations in the state in last two and half years.
