Guwahati, May 25 : At least 20 students have been safely rescued after a country boat capsized in Kopili river in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district.
According to the reports, the incident took place at Sildubi ghat bordering area of West Karbi Anglong and Hojai district on Thursday evening.
The boat ferrying about 20 students age group of 11-16 years, capsized in midst of the river.
Following the incident, local villagers had gathered the area and started rescue operation.
Local villagers, who immediately swung into action and safely rescued the students.
By lack of adequate communication facilities, the students and villagers of the remote areas in West Karbi Anglong and Hojai district are facing a tough time to cross the Kopili river since independence period.
