Guwahati, August 3 : While the National Register of Citizens (NRC) updation process is going on in Assam under monitoring of the Supreme Court to detect the illegal foreigners residing in Assam and the complete draft of NRC published on July 30 by excluding over 40 lakh people of list, a sensational report has come to light that, 39 suspected foreigner families have been included in the list from alone a district.
The incident happened in central Assam’s Morigaon district and it has been revealed by the Deputy Commissioner of the district.
Morigaon district Deputy Commissioner Hemen Das said that, 39 suspected foreigner families have been figured in the complete draft NRC.
“These 39 families, who are either declared foreigners or whose cases are still pending in the Foreigners Tribunal have figured in the list. We have detected them during the NRC verification process,” Morigaon district Deputy Commissioner Hemen Das said.
“We have taken necessary action as these names will not be included in the final NRC,” Hemen Das said.
The complete draft NRC was published on July 30 by including 2.89 crore persons out of 3.29 crore applicants.
