Guwahati, August 5 : The flood situation in Assam still grim while nearly 1.1 lakh people of six districts of the state remain affected.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), two people died in flood-hit Sivasagar district and with this, total persons losing their lives in this year flood in Assam rose to 43.
Nearly 1.1 lakh people have been affected in Golaghat, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Darrang districts.
Over 91,000 people have been affected alone in Golaghat district.
On the other hand, 163 villages of the flood-hit districts are currently under water and flood water submerged nearly 11,000 hectares crop land.
Over 23,500 flood affected persons have taken shelter at 132 relief camps, centres set by the district administration.
Following torrential rains in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, the Brahmaputra river at Nimatighat in Jorhat district, Dhansiri river at Golaghat town and Numaligarh in Golaghat district and Jia Bharali river at NT road crossing in Sonitpur district are flowing above the danger mark.
According to the ASDMA, nearly 22,000 animals have been affected in the second wave flood in the state.
NDRF and SDRF teams are engaged in rescue operations in the flood-hit areas.
