Guwahati, August 4 : Protesting against West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee’s remarks on the final draft of NRC in Assam, various organisations of Assam on Friday evening had burnt effigy of Mamata Banerjee in Assam’s Morigaon and Sonitpur district.
In central Assam’s Morigaon town, the leaders, members of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad, Khilanjia Suraksha Samitee held a march at Morigaon town and burnt effigy of the West Bengal Chief Minister.
On the other hand, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Sanmilan workers, supporters had burnt Mamata Banerjee effigy at Tezpur.
After 40 lakh people excluded in the complete draft NRC published on July 30, Mamata Banerjee said that, the NRC might lead to civil war and there will be bloodshed.
On August 2, Three police personnel including two women constable were injured in a scuffle when Assam police tried to prevent the members of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) delegation team from going out of the Kumbhirgram airport in Barak Valley’s Silchar, while the team arrived at
Silchar to assess the situation in Assam in the wake of the complete draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) publication.
The Assam organisations warned the West Bengal Chief Minister not to try any disturbance in Assam over the NRC issue.
