Agartala (Tripura), May 6 : A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper killed three of his colleagues with his service rifle before committing suicide at a border outpost in Tripura, officials said.
The incident took place at the Maguruli border outpost in Unakoti district along with Indo-Bangladesh border at around 1am on Sunday.
According to the reports, a BSF jawan Sishupal of 55 battalion had opened fire on his colleagues including a head constable after some dispute among them and killing himself with his service rifle.
A top BSF official said that, Constable Sishupal fired upon Head Constable Vijay Kumar, Kote NCO apparently in a tiff. He reportedly also fired at sentry, but missed him. Subsequently, he also fired upon at Constable and Driver Rakesh Kumar Yadav and Constable Rinku Kumar and later shot himself dead.
Constable Rakesh Kumar Yadav and Constable Rinku Kumar were taken to Civil hospital, Kailashahar, where Constable Rinku Kumar succumbed to his
injuries. Constable Rakesh Kumar was evacuated in Civil ambulance to ILS hospital, Agartala where he breath his last today morning," the top BSF official said.
Inspector General Frontier Tripura and other Senior BSF Officers have rushed to the spot for detailed enquiry.
The formation Tripura frontier has expressed deep shock, at the incident and has offered their condolences to the Next of Kins.
Arrangements are being made to send mortal remains, by Air to their respective home towns at Jammu and 24 Parganas.
