KATHMANDU, NEPAL, December 21, 2025 – In a significant move to bolster regional stability and economic growth, Nepal and Bangladesh are expanding their bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including energy trade, investment, and tourism.

During the Nepal–Bangladesh Economic Cooperation program, hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, the Nepali Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanashyam Bhandari, noted that ties between the two nations are on a steady upward trajectory. He highlighted that the relationship is transitioning from diplomatic dialogue into practical, high-impact ventures. Ambassador Bhandari emphasized that the private sector must serve as the primary engine for this deepening partnership, urging Bangladeshi business leaders in Rajshahi to engage more closely with their Nepali counterparts to unlock the region's untapped potential.

Furthering this strategic roadmap, First Secretary Yojana Bomjan identified priority areas for collaboration, such as streamlining power exports, encouraging cross-border investment in infrastructure, and enhancing tourism connectivity to boost people-to-people exchanges.

This vision was reinforced by a diverse assembly of over 120 participants, including government officials, representatives from chambers of commerce, and tourism operators from across the Rajshahi division. The overarching consensus among these stakeholders highlighted that increased cooperation between Kathmandu and Dhaka—specifically through regional hubs like Rajshahi—is essential for navigating modern economic challenges and fostering a more integrated and prosperous South Asian economy.
