Guwahati, January 15 : The CISF personnel on Sunday evening had arrested two persons at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati and recovered around 1.650 kg gold worth of Rs 56 lakh.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input, the CISF personnel had caught two persons at the Guwahati International airport who were coming from Agartala in Tripura.

"The two were on their way to board a flight to Kolkata. During the detailed baggage and body search, the CISF personnel had recovered six gold biscuits weighing about 900 grams in possession from them and found one person carried four gold biscuits hiding in his rectum," a top official of Customs department said.

The top Customs official further said that, the arrested persons were taken to Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and found sighting of four gold biscuits in the rectum of one person.

Later, doctors of GMCH had recovered the gold biscuits after surgery.

The arrested persons were identified as Santosh Swarnacar and Jafar Khan and both are hailing from West Bengal.

Later, the recovered gold biscuits and arrested persons were handed over to Customs department.

Customs, CISF, Assam police had recovered over 80 kg gold from airport, railway station in Guwahati and arrested 23 persons last year.
