Guwahati, July 7 : The Customs division of Guwahati and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau had recovered a live Pangolin at Maligaon area in Assam’s capital city Guwahati on Friday evening.
According to the reports, based on intelligence input, the Customs and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau had jointly launched operation at Maligaon area and recovered the live pangolin.
The investigating team had arrested three people for allegedly being involved in smuggling pangolin and they were identified as Fajal Haque, Faizul Haque and Imran Hussain.
The arrested people had tried to sell the pangolin to someone at Rs 40 lakh as they purchased it for Rs 1.5 lakh.
Guwahati based customs department officer Moni Sarania said that, the customs division and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau had jointly launched operation at Maligaon area and recovered the pangolin and arrested three persons.
“They were handed over to forest department and further investigation is going on,” the customs official said.
